Ok, so I just have to share with you one of my favorite things that I read today! It is a GOOD one. So, there is this girl named Jessica (no, I have never met her or know who she is). And she has a blog. And every year the newspaper of south-eastern Idaho publishes a "Born in 2011" insert section in the local newspaper. Well, sounds pretty normal, right?
BUT! Did you know that in the Rexburg area, and let's face it, UTAH, babies have the craziest names in like, the world. And if they aren't completely obscure, then they are spelled so confusingly ! So, this girl Jessica publishes the newspaper list to her blog. And it is awful people, Awful and HILARIOUS at the same time. I just don't understand what parents are thinking!
Take a look for yourself. TRUST ME, it will be worth your time! I have been waiting for this to come out all year! I'm serious. I am THAT big of a fan!

Oh, and this girl has done it for like the past 4 years! So if you are really bored, read those archives too! I have read them all, naturally. And it still boggles my mind year after year. Do us Utahns really have that many children and think that no two can ever share the same name? So let's just start making them up? Also, what happens when these kids learn to read and write, and can't figure out how the letters they are writing to spell their name even sound close to what their names even sound like?!

Oh dear! This makes me even more nervous to find a name for our little one! We have a girls name picked out...I think... and actually I saw one of our friends daughters name on that list and I love her name. Her's doesn't seem weird to me. So does that make me weird? Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteHoly cow!!! I can't believe these names. I had a hard time trying to figure out what some of them were suppose to be. Lol!! Maybe I should use this to make sure all of our kids have the most ridculous names out there.

Oh I could add a few to this list from the school I work at. Blade, Cheighny, Ilynd, and the list goes on! Don't people realize what they are doing to their children?!
