Well, it is Sunday. The day of rest. And Resting we have been. We had stake conference today, which was great, considering we were done with church before we normally would have even started!
Also. Have I told you about this ward we live in? Wow. 1. It is huge in size. We fill up the whole chapel and half of the gym. 2. We seem to be the youngest adults... 3. It is great, don't get me wrong, but there is an abundance of well... noise!
There are hundreds of kids and babies. The first week there, as I sat in RS everyone and their dog managed to bring a child or two with them to class. It was a little weird. Then I get passed the roll, and there is a sign up sheet for when you are pregnant and having your babies! Awkward! Anyways, I get to SS to tell Lynn about all this madness, and he has about the same tale to tell me. Every guy was packing a baby to Elder's quorum. It is unreal. Sacrament meeting is quite the experience. You have to try and entertain the kids on each side of you. Behind. And in front of you. Mostly they just stare at you. (Probably wondering where your kids are.) Anyways, no one sings hymns. They are too busy with the kiddos. And well the sacrament, and listening to the speakers? Ha. There is just a blanket of crying, babbling, hushing, and well, just noise! I think it will be a goal of ours to try and drowned out the crowd and actually get something out of the meeting.
Anyways, back to stake conference. They gave like a stats report of sorts. There are like 1000ish men and a 1000ish women in the stake. 50ish YM/YW. Kids? From age 3-11 (primary kids) there are 400 something. Infants and younger than 3? Nearly 500! Is that not insane? I believe it is. Practically 1/3 of our whole stake cannot even talk yet. Weird. Different than a single's ward? Most DEFINITELY.
Tonight for dinner: chicken fried steak & potatoes
